As the #MeToo movement strengthens in India, the next celebrity to feel this heat is RX 100 Singer Karthik. He is well known face for South Indian audiences as he has crooned songs in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and in other languages like Bengali, Odiya and Hindi, have been accused of sexual harassment. This year Singer Karthik has crooned for several Telugu movies like Devadas, RX 100, Pantham, Vijetha, Jambalakadi Pamba and Naa Nuvvu. As part of India’s #MeToo movement, a number of celebs have been named by women as sexual predators.
On Thursday, the Journalist Sandhya Menon shared screenshots of messages on her social media sites, which was sent by an anonymous woman. The woman alleged that few years ago, at a public event, Karthik kept talking about her body.
She wrote “A few years ago, we were at a public event and he kept talking about my body, he wanted to touch me, feel me and said he masturbated thinking of me. He made me extremely uncomfortable and I felt disgusted. Everytime, I have met him I cringed to be near him. I have heard singers complain about him. He’s a very popular and influential singer in the industry, I want to remain anonymous. This man is a disgusting sicko who tries to exploit female singers on tours.” She also added that she has heard other singers complain about him.
Singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripada also took to Twitter to support a woman who shared her experience with Singer Karthik.
Many big names in Bollywood as Nana Patekar, Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Alok Nath and stand accused of harassment in what is being seen as India’s #MeToo movement.
Singer Karthik has also composed music for a multi lingual Coca-Cola Advertisement and Prince Jewellery advertisements. He is the music director of Vasanthabalan’s period film Aravaan and Srinivas Raga’s Okkadine in which Nara Rohit and Nithya Menen played the lead roles.
