Income Tax- IT officials visited around six locations in Mumbai and Lucknow, and they also visited Sonu Sood’ residence. The sources say the IT department is looking into a land deal between Sonu Sood firm and a real estate company in Lucknow following complaints of alleged tax evasion. A real estate deal is under the scanner of the department.
Sonu Sood grabbed the national spotlight for helping migrants reach their home states during the nationwide lockdown clamped last year in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The sources close to Income Tax Officials revealed that a recent deal between Sonu Sood’s company and a Lucknow based real estate firm is under the scanner. The survey operation has been initiated on allegations of tax evasion on this deal. This is not the first time Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has been raided. He was among Bollywood personalities raided in the year 2012 over alleged tax evasion.
IT raids came days after Sonu Sood met Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. The actor had later dismissed speculations that he was joining the AAP- Aam Aadmi Party.
During an event in the month of August, Arvind Kejriwal had named Sonu Sood as a brand ambassador of his government’s mentorship programme for school students.
On the work front, Sonu Sood will be seen playing a crucial role in upcoming Telugu film Acharya starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, Kajal Aggarwal, Pooja Hegde and Ram Charan.
