Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is currently working for upcoming much hyped women centric movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, which is being helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In this film, Alia Bhatt is playing a s*x worker. Few days ago, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi released a trailer and SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan and others showered praises on the performance of Ali Bhatt. Now according to the latest report, the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi landed in trouble. The portrayal of Gangubai’s character in this film has not gone down very well with the residents of Kamathipura and they chose to protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’ directorial venture.
Alia Bhatt, who is playing the role of Gangubai, has been portrayed as a madam of the brothel in Kamathipura, has faced objections from the residents of Kamathipura. A section of people has opposed the way Kamathipura has been shown in the trailer as a famous red light area in Mumbai. As per the statement released, the residents feel that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has maligned the 200 years old history of the people residing in Kamathipura and hurt their sentiments.
Kamathipura residents are claiming that Alia Bhatt starrer film Gangubai Kathiawadi is ‘defamatory, shameful, and has hurt the sentiments of the residents of Kamathipura’.
The film Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a madam of Kamathipura’s (Mumbai’s famous red light area) brothel.
