Samantha Akkineni, who is one of the versatile actress of South Indian film Industry, has started shooting for her much anticipated film, Shakuntalam, which is progressing at the brisk pace under the direction of Gunasekhar. Recently Samantha also shared the pics from the sets on her Instagram. Now according to the latest buzz in the film industry, Senior actor Mohan Babu has been roped in Samantha starrer Shakuntalam and he will be seen playing the role of Durvasa Maharishi.
On the occasion of new year, Samantha announced that she has signed a mythology film titled Shakuntalam with Gunasekar. Along with the film’s announcement, she took to social media to share the pre-teaser of this upcoming big budget drama Shakuntalam in which she is playing the titular role.
Gunasekhar’ directorial venture Shakuntalam is based on Kalidasa’ Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam. According to the makers, Shakuntalam will focus on the love story of King Dushyantha and Shakuntala, daughter of Apsara Menaka and sage Vishwamitra.
The sources close to the makers revealed that Mohan Babu will be playing Durvasa Maharishi in Shakuntalam. However, an official update regarding the other cast members is yet to reveal.
Mani Sharma I son the board to compose the music, Bishwadeep Chatterjee is taking care of sound designing and Neeta Lulla is the costume designer.
