Veteran Telugu actor – Superstar Krishna died on Tuesday at a city-based private super-specialty hospital where he was undergoing treatment following a cardiac arrest. Superstar Krishna was 80. He was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Monday and was put on ventilator.
Superstar Krishna has a special place in Tollywood. He made his debut as a hero but later became a producer, director and editor and he also acted in many super hit films. There are many occasions when Krishna became a trend setter in his career. Eastmancolor, Cowboy Zone, First Cinema Scope, First 70MM, Spy Genre, Suspense Thriller, he introduced many genres to Tollywood and changed the stereotypes of Telugu film Industry. Krishna is also one of those who made Hollywood talk about Tollywood movies.
There are many reasons to say that he is the real trend setter of Tollywood a s he is credited with producing many technological firsts in Tollywood such as the first Cinemascope film – Alluri Seetharama Raju, the first Eastmancolor film – Eenadu, the first 70mm film – Simhasanam, the first DTS film – Telugu Veera Levara and introducing cowboy genre to the Telugu screen. He also starred in the spy films Gudachari 116, James Bond 777, Agent Gopi, Rahasya Gudachari and Gudachari 117.
He helmed 17 feature films and produced many films under his Padmalaya Studios production company along with his brothers Adiseshagiri Rao and Hanumantha Rao. Krishna was one of the highest-paid Telugu actors during his time.
