Jr NTR starrer Student No 1 has completed 17 years today. This was the debut of Tollywood director SS Rajamouli, who became popular at International level after delivering Baahubali series- Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2:The Conclusion. Student No 1 was released on 27th September 2001 and the film turned out to be a hit for both the actor and the director as well. It is considered to be the breakthrough of Jr NTR and fetched him many accolades. Student No.1 was later dubbed in Hindi as Aaj Ka Mujrim in 2007 by Royal Film Company and the movie was also remade in Odia as Mate Ta Love Helare in 2008.
Gajala played the love interest of Jr NTR. Apart from the lead pair, Student No 1 had other stars like Rajiv Kanakala, Brahmanandam, Ali, Sudha, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Gundu Sudarshan, Ajay, Tanikella Bharani, M.S. Narayana in supporting roles.
Student No 1 had a 50-day run in 73 centres and 100-day run in 42 centres. After Student No 1, once again both Jr NTR and Rajamouli teamed up for Simhadri, in which Bhumika Chawla played the female lead.
Once again Jr NTR and SS Rajamouli have collaborated for an upcoming movie RRR, in which Mega Power Star Ram Charan Teja will also play the lead role. Currently the film is in pre-production stage and it is expected that RRR will be launched next month whereas the regular shoot will be commenced by the end of this year.
Rajamouli has directed several big budget movies like Magadheera (2009), Eega (2012), the two part Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017).
Currently Jr NTR is busy in his upcoming film Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, which is being directed by Trivikram Srinivas in which Pooja Hegde is playing the female lead. The movie is slated to hit the theaters on 11th October on the occasion of Dussehra.
