Army man named Pankaj Fauzi is one of the accused in Haryana CBSE topper gang-rape case. Director General of Police (DGP) BS Sandhu has confirmed this news via his statement. The Haryana Police have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who tips the information about the accused involved in gang rape.
Haryana DGP BS Sandhu told media, “A police team has gone to Rajasthan to arrest Army man Pankaj Fauzi. I am sure that he will be arrested today. The police are putting efforts to issue an arrest warrant against the accused. The remaining 2 accused will be nabbed soon.
Three men had allegedly raped the woman after kidnapping her while she was on her way to a coaching class. The police have identified the other two men named Manish and Nishu who are on the run. All the three men were known to the woman.
Lt. Gen Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Command said, “If an army personnel is involved in this rape case, We will not shelter him.”
Nuh Superintendent of Police Naazneen Bhasin, who is leading the investigation into the rape of the girl, who had topped the Central Board of Secondary Education’s board examinations, said to media, “Medical report confirms the rape. We have made multiple teams to nab the accused. I appeal to the people to give us any information they have regarding this gang rape case and have announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh for those who help us in cracking the case.”
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, “it was an unfortunate incident. It’s unfortunate they [accused and the victim] knew each other. It’s even more unfortunate that one accused is an Army man.“
