Konda Surekha and Konda Muralidhar Rao have joined the Congress today on Wednesday. They joined the Congress in the presence of party president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Telangana Congress senior leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy, Renuka Chowdhary, Shabbir Ali,and others accompanied the Konda couple in Delhi. They will act in the party as common members. It is likely that Konda Surekha may get a ticket either from Warangal East or from Parakala.
Konda Surekha was TRS MLA from Warangal East in the dissolved assembly. After joining Congress, Konda Surekha interacted with media in a press meet and slammed KCR and KTR for ignoring them (Konda Couple) in the party.
Konda Surekha was quite active during YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime but she later slipped to TRS after the formation Telangana state. She contested the 2014 assembly polls as a TRS member. Now she has joined Congress party. Konda couple promised that they will work for the victory of the Congress in the coming assembly polls.
Recently she was fired on Telangana Chief Minister KCR for being tight-lipped on her party ticket. She alleged that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government failed to do justice to the people of the state. and further alleged that KCR’s family was only benefited. She had also asked for an explanation from the TRS leadership on the reason for being denied the ticket.
She has stated the reason of joining into Congress party and assured that she will help party candidates to win atleast from 5-6 constituencies in Warangal East.
N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president, expressed confidence that the Congress would be strengthened in all the constituencies of Warangal district with Konda Surekha and Konda Muralidhar Rao returning to the party fold.
Konda Surekha and Konda Muralidhar Rao expressed dissatisfaction over her name not figuring in the list of 105 candidates for the 119-assembly announced by KCR on 6th September.
