Nearly half of the 20 MLAs with the highest incomes in India belong to the Congress. According to electoral watchdog Association of Democratic Reforms, the top 20 features 9 Congress MLAs and only three from the BJP. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress is on the 5th place in the list.
N. Nagaraju of the Congress from Hoskote constituency near Bengaluru, Karnataka, is India’s richest MLA. His annual income of Rs 104.41 Cr is more than that of the next four persons on the list combined. N. Nagaraju said that his profession was agriculture and business, and annual income was Rs 104.41 Cr.
BJP’s Mangal Prabhat Lodha (Malabar Hill constituency, Mumbai, Maharashtra), is on the second place on the list with an annual income of Rs 33.34 Cr. According to him, he is a salaried professional, but he is also listed as the chairman and founder of the Lodha Group, a real estate developer.
Congress’s B.A. Basavaraja (K.R. Puram, Karnataka), who is an agriculturist and business is on the 3rd Place. His annual income is Rs 27.77 Cr. H. Vasanthakumar (Nanguneri, Tamil Nadu), owner of retail chain Vasanth & Co., has occupied 4th spot in the list with an annual income of Rs 22.65 Crore.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress, is on the fifth place, he is the highest-placed MLA from a regional party, as well as the top-earner for a career politician. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s annual income is Rs 13.92 Cr. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy started his political career by campaigning for Indian National Congress in 2004 elections in Kadapa District, and in the 2009 elections he was elected as member of Parliament from Kadapa constituency as a member of the Indian National Congress.
On the otherside, B. Yamini Bala, the Telugu Desam Party MLA from Singanamala, Andhra Pradesh (AP) has declared her annual income Rs 1,301 – slightly more than Rs 100 per month. She is the lowest earning MLA in the Country.
YSRCP’s Nuzvid MLA Meka Venkata Pratap is also in the list of the lower-incoming MLAs. His annual income is declared at Rs 60,000.
