96 marks the debut of C Prem Kumar as a director, who has previously worked with Vijay Sethupathi in Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom as a cinematographer. The film has the music by Govind Vasantha. Apart from Trisha Krishnan and Vijay Sethupathi, 96 has other stars like Janagaraj, S Janaki, Kaali Venkat, Aadukalam Murugadoss, Vishnu Prasad, and Shyam Prasad in supporting roles.
