Karachi bakery at Ameerpet, Hyderabad, has come under the scanner of the civic body officials. On Tuesday, the premises of the Karachi bakery was raided after a customer complained of finding worms in the chocolate sweets purchased from the bakery. The customer also took to Twitter to post few pictures of the spoilt sweets. As the tweet went viral, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) West Zone Commissioner Hari Chandana took action and ordered its authorities to raid the premises.
The customer Deepak Pinto who purchased the chocolate sweets said that they noticed a white powdered substance of the top of a few sweets and identified worms wriggling out from the sweets. He added that he and his wife found worms in two more sweets and the remaining had a white powdered substance on top of it. Deepak Pinto shared the same news with his friend Donita Jose, she posted it on Twitter with the images. “Happy wormy Diwali from @KarachiBakery Found these worms in at least 4 chocolate pieces. They even move… Not sure how many batches are even impacted by this @GHMCOnline.”
GHMC Commissioner Hari Chandana immediately responded to the tweet related to Karachi bakery and he ordered the food safety officials of the civic body to raid the premises of the Karachi bakery.
GHMC Food Safety Inspector, Mr. Sudharshan Reddy said, “Though Karachi Bakery was not the manufacturer of the sold product, it has been fined for selling unhygienic food.”
