According to the police official, “ The actress Aswathy Babu and her driver Binoy Abraham (38) were taken into the custody when they were waiting for the customer to pass the drug MDMA ((a synthetic drug that alters mood and perceptions) near her residence.”
The Thrikkakara police added that the arrest of Aswathy Babu has been recorded and the investigation has been also started.
Aswathy Babu hails from Thiruvananthapuram, has been living in Ernakulam for the last four years. She has done some minor roles in Malayalam TV serials. Recently she shifted to a rented flat in DD Golden Gate, Palachuvad, and there were reports that she was selling synthetic drugs for night parties in Kochi.
The police have informed that the drugs were brought from Bengaluru and they suspect that a huge mafia is behind the incident.
The police have also found MDMA at her flat in Thrikkakkara. Police recovered around 5gm of MDMA from her. MDMA is normally used at late night parties.
Thrikkakara SI Shaju AN said, “The drugs were brought from Bengaluru and we are yet to identify the supplier. They have been selling the products to the people who organize illegal night parties. We searched the actress Aswathy Babu’s flat but could not find anything else.
