On Thursday evening, TDP Supremo and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu were detained by police at Vizag airport after a five-hour-long drama. Chandrababu Naidu arrived at the airport at around 11.45 am on his two days Praja Chaitanya Yatra and he was about to visit Pendurthy area of the city to interact with some Dalits whose lands were allegedly encroached upon by ruling YSR Congress party leaders when his convoy was blocked by thousands of YSRCP cadres, they stopped him from entering the city.
TDP workers were seen raising the slogan against Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, which was followed by clashes between the two groups. Former CM Naidu along with his supporters sat on the road outside the Vizag airport to protest against the police for not allowing him to go.
Stating that the former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had no moral right to visit Visakhapatnam after opposing it as the executive capital, the YSRC workers hurled eggs, tomatoes, and chappals at his convoy.
Chandrababu Naidu was greeted with tomatoes, eggs, and chappals at Vizag airport. The cop was having a tough time separating the two groups and prevent a clash. The drama continued till 5 pm when the cop finally served a notice of arrest to Chandrababu Naidu under Section 151 of Criminal Procedure Code.
