Penguin movie review: Keerthy Suresh starrer much-hyped movie Penguin, directed by Eashvar Karthic, has finally arrived at the Amazon Prime on 19th June. Let’s see the story of the woman-centric movie Penguin.

Story: Rhythm (Keerthy Suresh) is a pregnant woman who sets out to investigate the disappearance of his son Ajay(Master Advaith) in her small hilly town. It has been six years but she is unable to move on from the incident and hopes for his return. The general talk is that Ajay has been kidnapped by a criminal who comes with a Charlie Chaplin mask. As time passes by, the unexpected happens but Rhythm has new challenges in front of her. She sets off to find out the actual mystery behind the disappearance of the kids.  Who kidnapped her son Ajay? What is the truth?  Where was Ajay all these years? Who had kidnapped him? To know these answers, one should watch the movie Penguin.

 Plus Points:

  • Keerthy Suresh
  • Story
  • Screenplay
  • Cinematography

 Minus Points:

  • Lack of  emotional depth
  • Execution
  • Dubbing
  • Tamil Flavor

Performance:  Once again National award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh wins the heart of her fans with her fantastic performance.  Penguin is Keerthy Suresh’s show from the first frame to the last. Actor Linga is an absolute natural as Rhythm’s first husband. Master Advaith does a decent job as he pulls off his part in most of the thrilling scenes of the film.

Technical:  The film Penguin uses the woods of Kodaikanal to create the perfect atmosphere of dread. The cinematographer Karthik Phalani does the perfect job. The editing by Anil Krish is pretty nice. The background score by Santhosh Narayanan is haunting and builds up the creeps, mixing suspense with fear and making the viewers hold the breath at every discovery. The first half of the movie is engaging and some scenes are creepy enough to give us the chills.

Analysis: Keerthy Suresh’s performance and cinematographer Khathik Phalani’s work are the main assets of this emotional suspense thriller. The director Eashvar Karthic packs in the right amount of thrills, chills, and gore in the narrative.
