It is known news that Shankar is all set to work with Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh for an upcoming film, which is remake of Anniyan. Producer V Ravichandran of Ascar Films who originally produced Anniyan, sent a legal notice along with a scathing letter, and accused Shankar of indulging in the unlawful acts. Producer V Ravichandran revealed that the rights of Tamil original Anniyan are still with him.
V Ravichandran urged the director Shankar to stop work on Anniyan remake with immediate effect, saying that he is also sending a legal notice to Shankar. The letter reads, “The entire story rights was purchased by me from the writer Sujatha for which full payment was done by me to him. Any remaking, copying or adaptaion of the main plot of the said movie, without my permission, is totally illegal”. read the letter from Ravichandran.
Finally Shankar responded to the allegations levelled against him by producer Aascar Ravichandran over the remake rights of Anniyan.
In his statement, Shankar reiterated that the Anniyan’ rights belong to him and pointed out that he was credited for the story and screenplay of Anniyan in the title card. Shankar also clarified that late writer Sujatha worked on Anniyan as a dialogue writer and not on the story.
