In her filmy career she has delivered a number of blockbuster movies and currently she is working with Gunasekhar for an upcoming woman centric film Shaakuntalam, in which she is playing the titular role. Sufiyum Sujatayum fame Malayalam actor Dev Mohan is making his debut in Tollywood with this upcoming big budget drama in which he essays the role of Dushyant. Talking about being a part of Shaakuntalam, earlier during an interview Samantha Akkineni had said it is a gift to her from Gunasekhar and producer Dil Raju as she has always wanted to play either a princess or a lead in a period drama.
Shaakuntalam is a pan-Indian film which is also produced by Gunasekhar’s daughter Neelima Guna.
