Expansion of medical education

Government Medical Education Expansion Program to benefit state students across the country due to shortage of UG & PG seats and especially in the context of Ukraine is being done step by step.

• A medical college for each district
  • 5 to 17 so far
    • Those before the arrival of Telangana – 5
    • Newly formed after coming to Telangana – 4
    • Granted in 2021 – 8
  • 8 colleges established in 2022-23
  • 8 colleges established in 2023-24

 Increase in UG seats

• • 2014   :700
  • 2021   :1,640

In 2022

• 1,200 new seats in 8 colleges (after approval)
• Total: 2,840 (1,640 +1,200)

2023-24: After the formation of a medical college in the district

• Government MBBS seats 5,240 (after approval)

Increase in PG seats (almost double)

• 2014 : 531
• 2021 : 967

Increase in super specialty seats (almost double)

•  2014 : 82
•  2021 : 153

Activity for PG & Super Specialty seats

• 4 New Teams
• 1 Warangal Health City
• Expanding NIMS
• Increase in PG seats in Medical College

Target of medical seats in the public sector by 2023-24

• UG   : 5,240
• PG   : 2,500
• Super Specialty : 1,000
