Vijaya Shanti, the former MP has been the ‘Star Campaigner’ for the forthcoming elections to the State Assembly. On Wednesday, AICC President Rahul Gandhi appointed Vijaya Shanti, the lady Amitabh as the Star Campaigner of Congress.
Vijaya Shanti will also act as an adviser to Election Campaign Committee constituted by AICC President.
All the senior Congress leaders were shocked when Vijaya Shanti was offered for important post. She is likely to contest as MP from Medak Parliamentary Constituency.
Rahul Gandhi also appointed former Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as the Chairman of Publicity Committee with former MLA Saudagar Gangaram as co-chairperson, Dr Dasoju Sravan and Kuna Srisailam Goud as members.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi set up a 15-member core committee comprising all top party leaders in Telangana. The committee will make all key decisions ahead of the Assembly elections.
The Assembly elections in the southern state was necessitated after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) dissolved the Assembly ahead of its tenure, which was till May 2019.
Rahul Gandhi appointed A Revanth Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar working presidents of the Telangana unit of the party. He also appointed as former Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as the Chairman of Publicity Committee with former MLA Saudagar Gangaram as co-chairperson, Dr Dasoju Sravan and Kuna Srisailam Goud as members.
