Ambareesh, Rebel Actor and Former Union state minister passes awayAmbareesh, the veteran Sandalwood actor and former union state minister passed away  in Vikram hospital Congress, on Saturday night after suffering cardiac arrest, the  condolences poured in from leaders across political lines.

The Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy condoled Ambareesh’s death and stated that his demise was an end of an era of love and affection in the Kannada Film Industry.

 Ambareesh was admitted to the hospital in the evening after the complaint of breathlessness. He was last of the stalwarts of Kannada film industry who breathed his last at 10.50 pm on 24 November.

Ambareesh was born on 29 May, 1952, to Hucche Gowda and Padmavathamma in Doddarasinakere in Mandya. He was the grandson of violin player, Pitilu Chowdiah.

M H Amaranath popularly known as Ambareesh started his career in Kannada Film Industry with Puttanna Kanagal’s Nagara Haavu. He was known as Rebel Star, acted in over 200 movies in Sandalwood. His popular movies are Antha, Mandyada Gandu, Indrajith Chakravyuha, Mannina Dhoni, and Olavina Udugore.

Ambareesh joined the Congress party before the 1994 Assembly elections. While he campaigned for the party, he quit INC when he was denied the ticket to contest the General Elections. He instead joined the JD and won the election against a Congress candidate. He later returned to Congress party and was the MP from Mandya constituency for 2 terms.

Ambareesh’s mortal remains body will be kept at the Kanteera Stadium on 25 November for the public to pay homage.
