Hyderabad name will be changed to Bhagyanagar : Raja Singh

Hyderabad name will be changed to Bhagyanagar : Raja SinghRaja Singh, the BJP MLA from Telangana said that the names of Hyderabad and its twin Secunderabad would be changed if the BJP is voted to power in Telangana.  He added that Hyderabad would be rechristened as Bhagyanagar, its erstwhile name, if the BJP ( Bharitya Janatha Party) wins maximum seats in the December 7 assembly elections.

MLA Raja Singh, who represents the Goshamahal assembly constituency, said that Hyderabad was earlier called as Bhagyanagar and it was only in 1590 that it was changed.

During the media interaction, Raja Singh said, “Hyderabad was Bhagyanagar and in 1590 Quli Qutub Shah came to Hyderabad, he changed Bhagyanagar to Hyderabad. We are planning to rename Hyderabad.” He further said, “The areas named after Mughals and Nizams would be renamed after the people who fought for Telangana and the country.” His remarks come days after the Uttar Pradesh Chief Miniter Yogi Adityanath renamed Allahabad and Faizabad as Prayagaraj and Ayodhya, respectively.

Earlier this year, the Mughalsarai Railway station was renamed as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay junction. The Gujarat government has also expressed their interest to rename Ahmedabad as Karnavati. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said, “We are contemplating to change the name of Ahmedabad to Karnavati. The talk has been initiated and the Concrete steps will be taken after looking at it from legal and all other angles.”

On the otherside, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut wrote on the wall of Twitter, “Yogi Adityanath has renamed Allahabad and Faizabad to Pragyaraj and Ayodhya. When will CM Devendra Fadnavis rename Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv Nagar?”
