Venkatesh who is basking in the glory of his recent offering Venky Mama in which he was seen with Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, is getting ready to start the shoot of his next film, which is a remake of Tamil drama Asuran in which Dhanush played the lead role. Suresh Productions has already confirmed via a statement that Venkatesh will star in Asuran remake. However, they’re yet to announce the rest of the cast and crew. Reliable sources have confirmed that Priyamani has been approached to play Venkatesh’s wife in the remake. The role was essayed by Manju Warrier in the original.

Dhanush and Manju Warrier starrer Asuran, based on popular Tamil novel Vekkai, turned out to be a blockbuster with over Rs 100 crore in the bank. Helmed by Vetrimaaran, Asuran is the blood-soaked revenge story of a father, a farmer who avenges the ruthless murder of his son. In this film, Dhanush made his screen presence in a dual role.

Srikant Addala, who is known for films like Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and Brahmotsavam will be helming Venkatesh again in the Telugu remake. Reportedly, Shriya Saran was the initial choice for the female lead, but for some reason that didn’t work out and now the makers of Venkatesh starrer Asuran remake are approaching Priyamani.

Recently when Priyamani was asked about Asruan remake, to which the actress replied, “Nothing confirmed. Talks are on. As of now, I can only say this for Venkatesh starrer.”

If everything will go accordingly, Priyamani will be seen with Venkatesh in Asuran remake, which will be bankrolled by Suresh Babu and the original producer Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner of Suresh Productions and V Creations, respectively. The rest of the cast and crew of Asuran remake are yet to be announced.

Priyamani is also acting in Virata Parvam 1992 which has Baahubali starer Rana Daggubati and Fidaa fame Sai Pallavi in the lead roles.
