In extremely tragic development, the former Australia batsman Dean Jones has passed away following a massive cardiac arrest on Thursday in a Mumbai hotel. Dean Jones  was 59 and he was in Mumbai with the Star Sports’ commentary team for the Indian Premier League – IPL.

Dean Jones played 52 Tests and 164 ODIs for Australia between 1984 and 1994 before venturing into commentary and he was part of the 1987 World Cup winning team.  Jones was Australia’s 3rd highest run getter in the tournament, scoring 314 runs in  the eight  matches.

The batsman Dean Jones was currently in Mumbai,  India as part of team of experts working on the Indian Premier League -IPL with host broadcaster Star Sports.  He made his debut for Australia in a Test match in the West Indies in  the year 1984 and he was one of the great ambassadors of the game associating himself with the Cricket development across South Asia.

The commentator and the former Australia batsman Dean Jones was in Mumbai  city as he was the part of Indian Premier League –  IPL broadcast set up, and he was absolutely fine before he suffered a collapse.  After hearing the sudden demise of Jones, Virat Kohli was shocked and he said, “Shocked to hear about the tragic loss of Dean Jones.”
