Samantha Akkineni is currently busy in the shoot of her upcoming film Shakuntalam in which she is playing the titular character, under the direction of Gunasekhar who is known for making historic and ward drama Rudhramadevi in which Anushka Shetty played the lead role. Now according to the latest report, Samantha starrer Shakuntalam is going to Gandipet lake. Telangana governmnet has permitted the makers of Shakuntalam to shoot at the iconic Gandipet lake in Hyderabad. This is going to be the first film to shoot at this location in the last six years.
As Shakuntalam is a romantic love story of Shakuntalam and king Dushyant, based on Hindu mythology Ramayana, that is one of the main reasons why Telangana government permitted the unit to shoot at Gandipet lake. We have already reported that Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha is debuting with this film as a child artist and she is playing the role of Prince Bharata.
Last year, speaking at the launch of the movie recently, Samantha Akkineni said that this would be her dream project and dream role. This is the first time, Samantha is working with Gunasekhar for a film.
She was last seen in the web drama The Family Man 2 where she played the negative role.
