Popular Kannada actor, singer Puneeth Rajkumar‘s mortal remain was laid to rest with full state honors at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru on Sunday morning. Dignitaries including the Kannada film fraternity, the Chief Minister Bommai and D K Shivakumar were present for the actor’s farewell. Before the final journey of Puneeth Rajkumar started, Karnataka chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai kissed on the actor’ forehead.
Puneeth Rajkumar, the youngest of five children of actor Dr Rajkumar, passed away at the age of 46, after suffering a cardiac arrest on Friday.
The last rites of Puneeth Rajkumar were performed today with state honors at the Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru. As it was a state funeral, a gun salute was given and the national flag was handed over by Bommai to Puneeth’s wife Ashwini. The actor’ mortal remains were laid to rest beside the grave of his father, the legendary actor of Kannada cinema Dr. Rajkumar in Bengaluru. His mother Parvathamma is also laid to rest in the same premises. This decision has been taken as per the wishes of his family.
Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot accompanied by CM Basavaraj Bommai and other ministers of the state cabinet, Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah, former Chief Minister S M Krishna, and others paid their respects.
Puneeth Rajkumar, fondly called as ‘Appu’ was christened as ‘Power star’ by his fans.
