Yesterday the film maker Gunasekhar took to his twitter and surprised everyone by making official announcement regarding his next project which is titled Shakuntalam. His mythological magnum opus, Shakuntalam, is based on the epic tale of love from the Adi Parva of the Mahabharata. The sources close to the makers revealed that the makers initially approached Pooja Hegde to play the titular role but she did not show any interest and now according to the latest buzz, Gunasekhar is considering the name of Anushka Shetty to play the role of Shakuntala.
Ever since the announcement, there has been a strong speculation that Anushka Shetty is being considered for the titular role in his upcoming film Shakuntalam.
In the past, Anushka Shetty had played the titular role in historic and war drama, Rudhramadevi. Anushka is also popular for acting in woman centric movies such as- Arundhati and Bhaagamathiee.
After a long gap of five years, finally filmmaker Gunasekhar has decided to come up with an interesting movie Shakuntalam. Though earlier he had announced that he would be teaming up with Rana Daggubati for Hiranyakashyapa. Now, it has been kept aside because of the pandemic.
Meanwhile Anushka Shetty was last seen in thriller drama Nishabdham.
