Bollywood has been a bridge between India and Pakistan through several years. In the wake of Indian Air Force (IAF) strike on the Jaish-e-Mohammed‘s terrorist camp at Balakot in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, the Pakistan government put a ban on Indianmovies in the country. Pakistan information ministry came out with a statement saying no Indian movie will be released in Pakistan. Now finally Pakistan has banned Indian movies. This comes after many Indian producers said their movies would not release in Pakistan reacting to 14th February terror attack in Pulwama that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF soldiers.
Fawad Chaudhry, the Pakistan Information Minister, said via a tweet,”Cinema Exhibitors Association has boycotted Indian content, no Indian Movie ll be released in Pakistan. Also have instructed PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority) to act against Made in India Advertisements. #PakistanTayarHai.”
All India Cine Workers Association had announced a ban on Pakistani artists from working in Indian movies earlier this month. Now, after Indian Air Force’s surgical strike on its soil, the Pakistan government has also decided to boycott Indian movies. Now no Indian movies will be allowed to screen in Pakistan.
Choudhary Fawad Hussain, the Pakistan I&B Minister said, “Cinema Exhibitors Association has boycotted Indian content, no Indian movie will be released in Pakistan. Also have instructed PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority) to act against made in India advertisements.”
After the Pulwama attack, the makers of several projects including Luka Chuppi, Arjun Patiala, Total Dhamaal, had announced that they will not be releasing the movies in Pakistan.
