Yatra Pre Release Business

Yatra starring Malayalam Superstar Mammootty, based on late Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhar Reddy, is gearing up for grand release on 8th February 2018. The movie has done decent pre-release business. Yatra theatrical rights for Nizam area were sold to Dil Raju for Rs 3.3 Cr. Ceded rights of Yatra were sold for 2.2 Cr whereas Andhra for  5.5 Cr respectively. Rest of India theatrical and overseas rights valued Rs 0.40 Cr and 2 Cr respectively. Yatra has done worldwide pre-release business of Rs 13.40 Cr.

 The area-wise break up are :

Nizam : Rs 3.3 Cr

 Ceded: Rs 2.2 Cr

 Andhra : Rs 5.5 Cr

ROI : Rs 0.40 Cr

 Overseas : Rs 2 Cr

 Total Pre release business of Yatra  : Rs 13.40 Cr

Yatra has set a new record – one of its movie tickets has been  sold out for more than 4 Lakhs in US. Recently  Yatra makers organized an auction for the sales of the tickets as a part of promotional activities and the first ticket was sold out for Rs 4.37 Lakhs in Seattle, US. The amount collected at the auction will be donated to Dr YSR foundation.

Yatra, directed by  Mahi V Raghav, is based on late political leader Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s walkathon across undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2003.

 Recently during the media interaction, Mahi V Raghav opened up about Yatra and said, “I think Yatra has the potential to move the audience, irrespective of whether or not they know that person YSR.”

Mahi V Raghav also talked about Mammootty and said that Yatra was a learning curve for him as he got the opportunity to work with Malayalam star.  He added, “I don’t like to say that I directed Mammootty. I just collaborated with him.” He praised Mammotty and added that the actor made him a better director and he is not confident that he can handle other top stares easily in future.
