Number of actors from Telugu and Tamil film industry have announced their donations for the ongoing battle against the coronavirus pandemic. Now Bollywood hero Akshay Kumar, who played the role of villain in Shankar’ directorial venture 2.0 starring Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson, pledges to donate Rs 25 crore for Corona relief works.
Akshay Kumar took to his Twitter account and said, “I pledge to contribute Rs 25 cr from my savings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’ PM-CARES Fund.”
Narendra Modi praised Akshay Kumar and called the actor’ pledge a ‘great gesture’.
On the otherside, Greek God of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan and comedian Kapil Sharma had announced their donation of Rs 20 lakh and Rs 50 lakh respectively for the battle against COVID-19.
Various celebrities from the southern film industries have also come forward to donate for the cause. Prabhas donated Rs 4 crore for Covid-19 relief. Mirchi and Baahubali star Prabhas announced a contribution of Rs 3 crore to the PM’ relief fund and Rs 50 Lakhs each to Chief Minister’s relief fund of both Telugu states- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Nithiin is the first Telugu actor who announced the donation. After this Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, Pawan Kalyan, Nagarjuna, Ram Charan, Sukumar and others announced their donations.
