India’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed the nation to turn off the lights of their homes for 9 minutes at 9 pm on Sunday, 5th April to showcase the strength and togetherness of the people to the world.
Narendra Modi also cautioned the Indian people to maintain social distancing while observing candle-light vigil on 5th April. Modi said through video message, “On Sunday switch off all lights for the 9 minutes and light up lamps or torch or mobile flashlights in the balconies, amid 21-day lock down.” Modi also urged, “Please don’t go out of their houses. Do this only from the doors or balconies. Maintain the social-distancing, don’t break it any cost.”
PM Narendra Modi also added, “When the people are staying at their houses, few of them may think how will they fight this battle against Covid-19 alone. Such questions might come up in your mind? But remember, none of us is alone. The strength of 130 Cr of Indians is with each one of us.”
Modi praised the Indian people for setting a model on 22nd March while paying gratitude to those in the frontline battling the coronavirus.
