The pre-bookings in the USA are outstanding as well. According to the latest report, Ponniyin Selvan has already crossed $400K in USA and it also has strong advance booking in Singapore.
The industry tracker Ramesh Bala confirmed the same by sharing a post on Twitter: In Overseas, #PS1 is selling more tix in adv booking than any of the current Tamil releases.. $400K crossed in USA. Very strong adv booking in Singapore.”
The big budget drama Ponniyin Selvan is produced by Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions and has the music by AR Rahman. It is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. The film also starring Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban. The cinematography is handled by Ravi Varman, editing by A Sreekar Prasad and production design by Thota Tharani.
