Krishnamraju’s original name was Uppalapati Venkata Krishnamraju. Born on 20 January 1940 at Mogaltur in West Godavari district. Wife Shyamala Devi. They have three daughters. He made his debut in 1966 with the film ‘Chilaka Gorinka’. He was last seen in ‘Radheshyam’ which was released this year. He made Rebel movies as per the name. As an actor with different roles, he produced films that raised the level of the industry.

In politics..
Krishnamraju, who joined the Congress in 1991, contested from the Narsapuram Lok Sabha constituency and lost. After that he moved away from politics and entered films. Back in 1998, he contested for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat from BJP and won. In 1999 by-elections, BJP won from Narsapuram Lok Sabha seat. He also served as a Union Minister in the NDA government.
In the 2004 election, Krishnam Raju, who contested from there, lost. After that Chiranjeevi joined the Praja Rajyam Party. He contested from Rajahmundry and was defeated. After that he came back to BJP. Recently there was news that he would get the post of governor… but it did not happen.
Krishnamraju worked as a journalist in the magazine ‘Andhra Ratna’ before entering films. At that time he also received the state level award as the best secondary photographer. He is very impressive on camera. That is why there is a collection of cameras at home. Krishnam Raju has been made the President of the Disciplinary Committee of the Movie Artist Association (MAA).
