Indian Chef dies of Coronavirus in US

Mumbai born Goan Chef Floyd Cardoz, who competed on “Top Chef,” and won “Top Chef Masters” and operated successful restaurants in both India and New York, died on Wednesday due to the coronavirus. Floyd Cardoz was 59. Cardoz  came in limelight when he won the top honor of  TV reality show, Top Chef Masters Season 3 with upma dish with a twist.

Chef Floyd Cardoz had traveled from Mumbai to New York through Frankfurt, Germany, on 8th March. As he was suffering from fever, was admitted to Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, New Jersey. Later he was tested positive for Covid-19, Coronavirus.

Floyd Cardoz was a partner in O Pedro, Bombay Sweet Shop, and  The Bombay Canteen in India. The Bombay Sweet Shop was launched only earlier this month.

 Chef Floyd Cardoz’ death was mourned by famous friends in both the restaurant and TV industries.

Chef Floyd Cardoz was a four-time James Beard Award nominee.  Last week, Floyd Cardoz had taken to his Insta and shared that he was not feeling well.

The news of Chef Floyd Cardoz s demise has stunned the entire word.

 Popular Chef Padma Lakshmi said, “Chef Floyd Cardoz made us all so proud. He had an impish smile, an innate need to make those around him happy, and a delicious touch. This is a huge loss.”
